The Big Bash
An irresistible combination of live music, incredible food, fantastic sport and drinks on tap is being served up in a unique event.
The Griff and Coton Sports Welfare in Heath End Road is hosting the ‘Big Bash’ from 12pm on Saturday, August 19 with plenty going on for all the family throughout the day, hosted by the sports sections.
The free-to-attend event culminates in a unique performance from Nuneaton’s own The Kingcrawlers from the open-air bandstand, while Birmingham-based rockers Kick the Fridge will follow in doors at the Griff and Coton bar area.
Doors open from 11.30am with some incredible streetfood vendors as the local trio of Ranv’s Rasoi, Nally’s Jamaican Jerk Grill and Delicious Burger and Shake Co provide the hot food options while Evangeline’s Sweet Treats and an ice cream van will satisfy the sweet-toothed!
Children can be entertained on the bouncy castle (fee involved) as well as sports fun (free of charge) with Coach Ben from 1-4pm and from 5.15pm-7pm (more details below).
Sport lovers will get their fix with three Griff & Coton clubs all playing matches across the afternoon.
Manor Park Rugby Club first team play their first match since winning the Counties 2 Midlands West South when they tackle Berkswell and Balsall – winners of the league above – in a Champions v Champions pre-season friendly that kicks off at 1pm.
This will be followed by Park’s second team tackling Saxons Barbarians – a unique side formed via social media who are playing their first-ever fixture (3.30pm).
Griff and Coton Football Club are playing an inter-club friendly on the pitch adjacent to the rugby pitch (2pm kick-off) while the Bowls Cup are playing a league match against Bulkington B.

3.30pm: Manor Park 2nd XV v Saxons Barbarians – unique fixture against the first social media generated rugby team!

- Coach Ben soft ball batting and bowling drills at the cricket nets from 1-4pm
- From 5.15pm until the music starts, coach Ben will be on the rugby pitch doing team activities and ball skills!

– The Griff & Coton main bar will be open, as will the Pavilion bar – card payments accepted but please bring cash
– A CASH ONLY bar will feature at the top of the site near to the football changing rooms (close to the band stand)

Parking information
– Sports match participants are encouraged to park at the top of the site by the remote control car club.
– The small front car park will be open but fills up quickly
– The grassed area straight off Heath End Road but in front of the Griff and Coton will be open
– Where possible please car share and avoid driving to the site as parking is limited
Toilets
– The Griff and Coton toilets will be open and portaloos will also be on site
DO NOTS
– Bring your dog unless it is a guide dog
– Bring your own drinks on site, there will be a security presence
